A breezy, colorfully styled comedy, "Almanya" is a rare feel-good movie about Turkish immigrants in Germany. It tells the story of three generations of a Turkish immigrant family in Germany, whose feelings of identity and belonging are put to the test, when the family patriarch decides to take the whole family on a road trip to Turkey.

Almanya - Willkommen in Deutschland (Almanya - La mia famiglia va in Germania) | 2011 | Comedy | 101 min | Italian, no subtitles

In the mid-60ies, Hüseyin Yilmaz and his family had moved from Turkey to Germany. Since then, Germany has become home to his children and grandchildren. One evening, Huseyin surprises his loved ones with the news that he bought a house in Turkey. To help with its renovation, the whole family go on a road trip to Turkey....

This happy multicultural comedy, which continuously plays on well-known German and Turkish clichés, is partly based on the own experiences of director Yasemin Samdereli and her sister Nesrin. The film won the German Film Award 2011 for best film and best script.
