The Rockpalast has been on WDR* Televison since the 1970s. Right from the beginning it was more than just a TV show for rock fans. The Rockpalast became an institution, a cult programme with a fixed weekly slot and additional events and broadcasts.
Legendary are the festivals from the Grugahalle Essen or from the Loreley rock over the Rhine which were broacast live throughout Europe featuring the Who, David Bowie or ZZ Top.

During the Corona crisis, concerts and festivals with live music and audiences had to be cancelled. The Rockpalast editorial team decided to let musicians, music makers, managers and even organisers have their say in the Back Home series and, despite restrictions, managed to have performers in CORONA SESSIONS play in places isolated by Corona.
With OFFSTAGE the concept of Corona Sessions was expanded this summer and whole concerts were recorded off the beaten track.
